Bumble will remove swiping, the defining mechanic of 2010s dating apps, in an overhaul planned for Q4 2024. The pivot follows a 21% drop in paying users, down to 3.2 million in Q1 2024 from 4 million the previous year. CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd framed the decline as a deliberate reset prioritizing "quality over quantity" and confirmed the development of an AI dating assistant named "Bee."
