pennsylvania governor josh shapiro signed the artificial intelligence deceptive advertising act into law on oct 24, 2026. the law requires disclosures on ads that have been significantly modified or generated by artificial intelligence, including tv commercials and restaurant flyers. the labels must be in the same format as the ad itself. however, the law leaves many loopholes, including subjective definitions of 'significantly modified' and 'evidently fictional', and a carve-out for 'parody, satire, commentary or criticism'. this affects companies advertising in pennsylvania and may impact commercials aired in other states if they are also expected to air in pennsylvania.
