SpaceX plans to invest at least $55 billion into a semiconductor manufacturing facility in Austin, Texas, named Terafab. Court filings indicate total investment costs could reach $119 billion. Intel will assist in designing and building the plant, which aims to produce chips capable of supporting 200 gigawatts of computing power on Earth and 1 terawatt in space per year. The chips will be used for AI, robotics, and space-based data centers by both SpaceX and Tesla.
