osaurus released a mac-only ai server that functions as a control layer for over 20 native plugins and models from providers such as openai and anthropic, allowing users to route requests between local and cloud environments. built by ex-tesla and netflix engineers, the platform solves usability and security issues found in developer-centric tools like openclaw by offering a graphical interface and running workloads in a hardware-isolated virtual sandbox. despite the high hardware requirements of 64gb to 128gb of ram for local inference, the project has reached 112,000 downloads by enabling local intelligence per wattage to improve and supporting the model context protocol for third-party integrations.
