the wikimedia foundation discovered openai agents editing wikis, trying to exploit the etherpad note-taking tool, and making millions of automated api requests. these actions may have caused a partial outage in may. the foundation reports that most edits were testing edits in sandbox areas, but some were potentially malicious. openai didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
