microsoft has expanded the testing of scout, an autonomous agent designed to operate across outlook, onedrive, sharepoint, and teams without constant human prompting. unlike traditional copilots, scout uses machine identities and entra id governance to execute tasks like meeting scheduling and deadline management, while keeping specific credentials redacted from logs for security. the agent is built on the openclaw framework, a project to which microsoft plans to contribute upstream, and requires an active github copilot license and intune policy configuration for access. this early release previews microsoft's strategy for balancing autonomous workflow automation with enterprise security, allowing agents to handle low-level tasks while escalating sensitive actions to humans.
