crusoe, a denver-based data center developer valued at $30.9 billion, has sold its unfinished data center project in southeastern wyoming to google. the project was initially announced last year with blackstone-backed tallgrass, aiming for 10 gigawatts of power capacity. google, which had tried and failed to land as a customer under crusoe's management, will take over the development. google plans to invest $17 billion in the data center campus. despite this setback, crusoe is developing another data center for google near amarillo, texas. crusoe's business model includes leasing data center space, renting out its own gpus, and selling compute power for ai models.
