Shopify lets AI agents check out purchases

shopify has opened its checkout to browser-based ai agents, allowing them to complete purchases on merchants sites. previously, these agents could only search for products and add them to carts. shopify introduced three new tools - get_checkout, update_checkout, and complete_checkout - to facilitate this process. the feature is rolling out to all eligible shopify merchants and leverages shopifys universal commerce protocol (ucp).
