empirik, a startup incubated by sequoia, has launched with $21m in seed funding to develop an ai-powered observability tool that helps prevent tech outages. the tool, built by former sequoia it leaders avon puri and sudheer dhurjati, tracks system changes and infers their potential ripple effects across infrastructure. empirik allows devops and site reliability engineering teams to offload routine troubleshooting and focus on higher-value priorities. the company has already brought on customers including s&p global, guardant health, and a major consumer packaged goods company. empirik aims to automate tasks for infrastructure engineers, similar to what ai has done for software developers.
