microsoft is ending xbox copilot. new xbox ceo asha sharma announced the company will wind down the mobile version and stop console development entirely. this follows sharma's reorganization that integrated coreai executives into the xbox team. the company previously promised the ai assistant for current-gen consoles this year.
New Xbox CEO Asha Sharma confirmed the cancellation of Copilot for Gaming. Microsoft is winding down the mobile version and halting development on the console version. This decision comes after Sharma reorganized the Xbox platform team by adding executives from Microsoft’s CoreAI division. Microsoft previously marketed the gaming-focused AI assistant heavily last year and stated in March that it would arrive on current-generation consoles in 2024. This cancellation marks a significant pivot in Xbox strategy under new leadership.
