Gemini AI may automate personal calls to mom, friends
google's gemini ai might be used to send automated phone messages to friends and family, beyond just business calls. this could change how people communicate with those who prefer phone calls.
google is reportedly planning to expand its 'call for me' ai feature, currently limited to business calls, to personal phone calls using its gemini ai. an apk teardown by android authority found a 'gemini calling' introductory screen with examples of automated phone messages, such as 'call mom and tell her i will be 15 minutes late' and 'call john and ask if he is coming for dinner'. this feature would likely be limited to basic, text message-like calls. the update might also include granular permissions for gemini actions in individual apps, allowing users to opt out of receiving incoming automated calls from gemini. this expansion could change how people communicate with those who prefer phone calls or have limited access to digital messaging.
