anthropic has signed compute contracts worth up to $517 billion in eleven months, adding at least 14.8 gigawatts of computing power to its existing one to two gigawatts. the company is also planning its own data centers. this rapid expansion comes after ceo dario amodei warned competitors about reckless risk in early 2026. anthropic's annualized revenue is $65 billion, while openai's was above $40 billion as of july. neither company can cover these commitments from revenue alone.
