anthropic expanded its claude managed agents platform with self-hosted sandboxes and mcp tunnels, giving enterprises greater control over data residency and network security. self-hosted sandboxes allow tool execution to occur within a customer's private infrastructure or via managed providers like cloudflare and vercel, ensuring files and audit logs never leave the corporate environment. mcp tunnels use a lightweight, end-to-end encrypted gateway to connect agents to private internal resources like databases and apis without requiring open inbound firewall ports. despite these infrastructure changes, the core agent orchestration loop, including context management and error handling, remains hosted on anthropic's servers, precluding a fully self-hosted deployment.
