Anduril and Meta prototype AR combat glasses
anduril and meta are prototyping ar headsets for the army, incorporating llms and eye-tracking to enable soldiers to command drones and select targets.
defense contractor anduril is collaborating with meta to build augmented-reality headsets for the us army's soldier born mission command program, integrating large language models to process natural language into tactical commands. the system, running on anduril's lattice software platform, allows soldiers to surveil areas via drone, identify threats using ai-driven recognition, and coordinate strikes through eye-tracking or voice input. although a $22 billion microsoft contract for similar tech was cancelled, the army committed $20 billion to lattice integration and expects production on the sbmc program by 2028. anduril is also independently developing a proprietary headset called eagleeye, asserting that a fully integrated hardware solution will outperform helmet attachments.
