amazon has developed a new version of its proteus warehouse robot capable of understanding and executing natural language instructions from workers. previously, employees had to use software interfaces to direct the robots, but now they can simply speak commands to manage the movement of heavy carts. the company insists this technology supports employees rather than replacing them, despite increasing automation in fulfillment centers. deployment is scheduled for european facilities in the first half of 2027, expanding the robot's operational range beyond just the dock areas.
