meta released muse, a generative ai model capable of text-to-image creation and in-painting editing, which will be accessible via the meta ai app and embedded features in instagram stories and whatsapp. unlike competitors, the model is integrated directly into meta's social ecosystem to generate content and mock up product listings for facebook marketplace. while the core feature remains free for casual use, meta will enforce usage limits that push power users toward its subscription tiers. the release signals meta's intent to operationalize its ai infrastructure spending by keeping users engaged within its 'walled garden' of apps rather than relying on standalone products.
