Etsy launched a native app within ChatGPT, enabling users to query its 100 million listing catalog using natural language rather than specific keywords. Users tag @Etsy to receive gift recommendations, which link directly to product pages. This integration replaces the previous 'Instant Checkout' feature that ended in March due to low sales volume.
The announcement follows Etsy's Q1 2026 earnings report, which revealed $631 million in revenue and a 6% increase in marketplace gross merchandise sales. Active buyers rose to 86.6 million, marking the first increase in two years. Etsy is also testing a conversational 'gift assistant' on its own platform and previously introduced seller tools for generating AI-powered product descriptions.
