anthropic released a cross-session communication feature for claude code on macos and linux that allows separate terminals to send text summaries and context to one another. the system supports bidirectional messaging on the same machine and one-way responses between different computers via anthropic's servers, with admin controls available for security. use cases include coordinating parallel workflows and receiving status updates on long-running tasks without manual context switching. the feature is currently absent from enterprise platforms like amazon bedrock, google cloud agent platform, and microsoft foundry, focusing initially on individual developer productivity.
