OpenAI president Greg Brockman testified in court that Elon Musk demanded full control of the company in 2017 and threatened to fire the founding team when they refused. Brockman detailed a meeting where Musk, angered by the rejection of his proposal for a for-profit structure, grabbed a commissioned painting and departed. Musk ceased funding shortly after, exiting the board in early 2018. Brockman's journal entries refute Musk's current lawsuit claims that Altman and Brockman hijacked the nonprofit.
