starting june 15, anthropic will bifurcate the billing structure for claude subscriptions, creating a dedicated monthly credit for programmatic access via the agent sdk, claude code, and command-line tools. unlike the existing flat-rate model where programmatic usage tapped into heavily subsidized chat limits, the new system deducts these calls from a specific pool at full api pricing, significantly raising costs for heavy users of third-party tools like conductor and openclaw. pro subscribers receive $20 in monthly credit, max 5x users get $100, and max 20x users get $200, with additional usage automatically billed at standard api rates once the credit is exhausted. this move resolves the economic strain third-party integrations placed on anthropic's flat-rate offerings by decoupling agent workloads from interactive consumer usage.
