apple plans to introduce auto-deleting chat history options for its revamped siri in ios 27, offering retention periods of 30 days or one year, according to mark gurman. this strategy highlights privacy as a competitive advantage over rivals like google and openai, which rely heavily on extensive user data for personalization. although apple is integrating google's gemini for some backend components, it restricts persistent memory to minimize data storage. this move assumes users will prioritize data security over the seamless personalization provided by larger ai memory systems.
