Google introduced event-driven Webhooks for the Gemini API, enabling push-based notifications for long-running tasks like Deep Research and Batch API processing. This replaces inefficient polling mechanisms, ensuring at-least-once delivery with automatic retries for up to 24 hours and preventing replay attacks via signed headers. Developers can configure endpoints globally or dynamically per-request, utilizing HMAC or JWWS security.
